SO ………...
There are 8,760 hours in a year. By giving the
Knights of Columbus 24 of those hours (less than .3 percent), you can be a better Catholic, a better father, a better husband and a better person. The time commitment of 24 hours a year for members of the Knights of Columbus:
•
12 hours a year reading the weekly parish bulletin, the state and local council newsletters, Columbia magazine, and surfing the state council and Supreme Council Web sites.
•
2 hours a year volunteering at the council’s annual drive for people with intellectual disabilities (The Tootsie Roll Drive).
•
2 hours a year attending, with his family, two council corporate Communions or prayer services at the parish.
•
2 hours a year on a council sponsored Church, community, council family or youth project of his choosing.
•
2 hours a year attending one council meeting. (Ours are well-run, interesting meetings, so you might even come back for a second!)
•
4 hours a year enjoying (again, with his entire family) a council social function such as a dinner, dance, picnic, etc.
Charity-First!
"I don’t have much time to give to the Knights, so why should I join?" That’s a real good question and one we have all asked ourselves. The truth is that you can make a positive difference in our Church and Community with just a few hours contribution a year.
a dedicated group.
Fraternity-More than friends, Brothers!
Knights work together, both FOR and AS families; they play together as families too. As a result, they grow closer together as families.
Patriotism-For God and Country!
You’ve seen Knights at Church, in Parades and at other special events in their capes and chapeaus (the feathered hats), swords at the ready. This is the Color Corps, whose members have attained their Fourth Degree, the highest level of membership. In fact, the four degrees of the Knights are Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Did you know that the words “Under God”
in the Pledge of Allegiance were added due to the efforts of the Knights of Columbus over 50 years ago? Being a Knight means being a good citizen for the benefit of all.To learn more, contact:
